You upload a photo, choose your pet type and describe what you’re noticing. PetScan’s AI looks at visible signs in the image together with your description and returns plain-language insights: what it can see, possible concerns, a severity level, suggested next steps and warning signs to watch for. These are informational insights — not a veterinary diagnosis.

PetScan works best for dogs and cats, and also supports rabbits, birds and other pets. For less common species the AI will be more cautious, and checking in with a vet who treats that species is especially worthwhile.

No. PetScan provides informational AI insights to help you understand what you may be seeing and decide on next steps. It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe medication or replace professional veterinary care. If your pet seems unwell, in pain or in distress, contact your veterinarian or an emergency clinic.

A sharp, well-lit photo that clearly shows the area you’re concerned about works best. Use natural light if you can, get reasonably close, keep the area in focus and avoid filters. JPG, PNG and WEBP images up to 8 MB are supported.

Right now each analysis uses one photo, and each scan counts towards your plan. If you want to check several areas, run a separate scan for each. Multi-photo analysis is something we’re exploring for future updates.

Your photo is sent over an encrypted connection to PetScan’s server, which passes it to our AI provider to generate your insights. A small copy is kept with your report so you can look back at it — only you (and PetScan admins for support) can see it, and you can delete any report from your dashboard at any time. Please avoid including people’s faces or personal information in the image.
